Lurchers generally are medium to large, light-bodied dogs. In general, Lurchers are deep-chested, leggy dogs regardless of the cross. Sighthounds vary significantly in size, and the Whippet is the lower end of the scale used in the Lurcher cross. Whippets top out around twenty-two inches at the shoulder.
